PSA cooperating with C&CE on a detailed engineering and commercial evaluation of SMARTwireX technology

Communication & Control Electronics is focusing on the requirements of volume car manufacturers with SMARTwireX technology, and is in detailed discussion and testing with several companies in Europe and Japan.

One such company is PSA Peugeot Citroën. PSA is evaluating various multimedia and telematics networking technologies for future vehicles and as part of this program PSA has been working with Communication and Control Electronics on a detailed engineering and commercial evaluation of SMARTwireX technology.

This cooperation has included testing to cover the protocol devices and software as well as the physical layer. Detailed testing on network management, electrical performance and EMC is being performed. Also, to demonstrate the possibilities of implementing a high-speed multimedia and telematics network a test vehicle has also been equipped with modules from several 1st tier suppliers based on C&CE technology, including an infotainment head unit, navigation system and a rear seat entertainment system.

PSA and C&CE engineers have been working closely on this program since April 2002, and it is expected to be completed early in 2003.
