D2B/SMARTwireX utilises standard automotive unshielded twisted pair
(UTP) cabling, and in cost analysis work undertaken with several volume
OEM car makers, the cost of deployment has shown a significant saving
compared to existing systems using CAN for control and separate
point-to-point cables for audio. The costs of a D2B/SMARTwireX network
are also significantly lower than competing optical networks.

product mixes and volumes.
